Probation extended for man with second assault charge

A Mount Orab man facing his second assault charge entered into a plea agreement in Hillsboro Municipal Court on Thursday.As per the agreement, Jacob Hamilton, 22, pled guilty to an amended and reduced charge of persistent disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. The state recommended that a 30-day jail sentence be suspended on the condition that Hamilton agree to stay away from the alleged victim.Hamilton told the court, “I’m sorry for what I did.”A 30-day jail sentence was suspended, and Hamilton’s probation was extended for three years. In addition, he will have to pay a $250 fine.Hamilton will also have to observe an 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. curfew and obtain anger management classes.

 

Hillsboro FFA attends Ohio Leadership Camp

Members of the Hillsboro FFA chapter were part of more than 100 Ohio Farm Bureau Youth, FFA members and advisers attending the Ohio Leadership Camp held in Carrolton at FFA Camp Muskingum.The students were able to attend through a scholarship sponsored by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Inc. and Nationwide Insurance, both of Columbus. The Highland County Canine Commanders 4-H Club earned several awards at the 2014 Ohio State Fair Dog Show. Competing were Julia Jenkins, Meredith Oglesby, Robert Lanning and Kyah Chaney.
