ACCESS program showcases manufacturing opportunities
More than 100 high school students representing all public five school districts in Highland County will participate in a Manufacturing Awareness Day on Feb. 29, an experience made possible by the Highland County ACCESS Program. This day will provide students exclusive tours of eight prominent local manufacturing facilities.
Hillsboro FFA hosts Day of Giving
The Hillsboro FFA Chapter recently hosted a new event called a Day of Giving at Hillsboro High School. The event was focused on being more involved with the community by assessing the needs of the local people and taking action.
Hillsboro FFA treats top fruit sellers
On Jan. 26, the Hillsboro FFA Chapter rewarded the members who sold a minimum of $350 of fruit for their annual fundraiser.
‘HHS On Broadway’ Saturday
The HHS Musical Theatre’s seventh annual fundraiser “HHS On Broadway!” will be held Saturday, Feb. 17. The theme is “The Golden Age of Broadway!” There will be solos, duets, small ensembles and a number performed by the cast of this year’s spring musical, “The Sound of Music” and HHS Alumni. There will be a large selection of sweet treats, coffee, tea and water available as well as several items that will be raffled off. All proceeds go toward the production of “The Sound of Music!” “HHS On Broadway” will be at 7 p.m. in the Hillsboro High School Theater. SSCC health care scholarship money available
Nursing and allied health students at Southern State Community College could reap the benefits from the myriad scholarship opportunities offered through the SSCC Foundation, a tax-exempt organization founded in 1996.
WC to host ‘Life Stories’ exhibit
The Meriam R. Hare Quaker Heritage Center’s new gallery exhibit “Life Stories” is a mixed media display that features 10 women, serving long prison sentences, speaking their truth from inside the Ohio Reformatory for Women. An opening reception will be held Feb. 22, from 6-8 p.m. at the QHC located in Wilmington College’s Boyd Cultural Arts Center.
WC students work at Super Bowl LVIII
Unlike the Bengals, Steelers, Vikings and 27 other NFL teams, 20 Wilmington College students, including one from Leesburg, went to the Super Bowl.
Grant will enhance WC social work program
Wilmington College received a $400,000 Behavioral Health Workforce Development Grant designed to enhance academic efforts in the social work field with the goal of eventually seeking formal program accreditation.
Fairfield celebrates National FFA Week
The Fairfield FFA Chapter in Leesburg will celebrate National FFA Week, Feb. 17-24. Te week embraces more than 95 years of FFA traditions while looking forward to the organization’s future. More than 945,000 members will participate in National FFA Week activities at local, state and national levels.
