MHS girls roll past Trace

GREENFIELD — It was the second meeting of the 2023 season for Miami Trace’s girls varsity soccer team and their peers from McClain High School on Tuesday with the hosting Tigers coming out on top, 6-1, in Frontier Athletic Conference action.

GREENFIELD — The Miami Trace High School boy’s soccer team visited McClain High School on Tuesday for a Frontier Athletic Conference match against the Tigers. It was another in a series of tough, physical matches between the two teams of cats as Trace’s defense held McClain scoreless in the second half to prevail, 6-2.

GREENFIELD — The Miami Trace High School varsity volleyball team continued its defense of the 2022 Frontier Athletic Conference championship with a match Tuesday at McClain High School. McClain gave a spirited challenge before falling in four sets, 19-25, 28-26, 25-17 and 25-17.

No Highland County teams or individuals were able to advance in postseason action when the Division II Southeast Sectional Girls Golf Tournament was played Monday at Buckeye Hills Country Club.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association released the official weekly football computer ratings Tuesday. The computer ratings are released every Tuesday beginning in the fifth week of the season, leading up to the final report on Sunday, Oct. 22, when 448 schools – the top 16 in each region – will qualify for the playoffs.

The Cincinnati Bengals lost their second game of the season on Sunday and now find themselves in an early hole. The Ravens squeezed out a three-point victory and sure, the Bengals did look better than they did week one, but I am beginning to get worried. With another tough matchup approaching next week on prime time television, the Bengals better turn it around fast if they want to be playing for a Super Bowl trophy come February.

Sterling claims match medalist honors

Lady Tiger Kaylin Sterling was the match medalist and the McClain girls golf team picked up another win Thursday when they traveled to Locust Hills Golf Club to take on Madison Plains. The final score was McClain 224, Madison Plains 234.
