New lunch policy has positive results

McClain High School Principal Jason Potts implemented a new policy this school year that says that students who are academically ineligible must stay on campus for lunch.

At the end of the 2015-16 school year there was a total of 76 students on the ineligible list. This year, after the policy was announced and the first nine weeks ended, the total dramatically decreased to 27 students on the ineligible list. Between the sophomores, juniors and seniors, there were only four ineligible students.

The only way a student can receive the privilege of having an open lunch again is if their interim grades or second quarter grades are at eligible status.
