Debbie Robbins was honored at the Church Women United’s 2016 Human Rights Celebration on Jan. 28 at the Union Church of Christ. She was presented with a certificate by Barbara Shoemaker, the 2013 Human Rights honoree.

The Church Women United Human Rights Celebration was started in 2006 in the hopes of bringing to light those who have and are working toward equality for all. Awards have honored amazing women and men whose work has made an impact on their community or on the world at large.

Previous Highland County residents who have been honored at the Human Rights Celebration include Mona Curtis, Linda Lengefeld, Cynthia Eigel, Valeta Doorneweerd, Donna Smith, Barbara Shoemaker, Janie Shoemaker, Judy Durbin and Debbie Robbins.
