Lincoln’s General will visit Georgetown

0

Lincoln’s Generals, a professional living history group, will make their second appearance in Georgetown at the 21st annual U.S. Grant Days event on April 20.

With uniforms and equipment, either original to the Civil War era or accurate reproductions, this group of living history specialists will transport you into the past to experience a piece of our American heritage through the eyes and lives of the officers and enlisted men who were there.

In 2016, the group participated in 14 events including appearances at Harper’s Ferry, Antietam, Gettysburg, Appomattox Court House, the James A. Garfield National Historical Site, and the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center.

On Friday, April 21, Georgetown elementary school students will visit the grounds of the Grant Boyhood Home where the generals will present an educational and entertaining program.

On Friday at 7:30 p.m. a reception will be held for the generals at the Georgetown United Methodist Church Hall, 217 S. Main St., where they will discuss their participation in the war and answer questions. Music and refreshments will be provided and there is no admission fee.

On Saturday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. they will be available at the headquarters tent on the grounds of the Grant Boyhood Home and will be making several presentations throughout the day in the Living History Tent.
