12th annual Wildflower Pilgrimage

The Arc of Appalachia’s 12th annual Wildflower Pilgrimage will be held at the Highlands Nature Sanctuary near Bainbridge from April 13-15. Headquartered at the heart of the sanctuary at the Appalachia Forest Museum, this event offers two days of naturalist-guided field trips to the finest floral showcases in south-central Ohio and evening programs by nature photographers Andrew Gibson and Tom Croce. Meals are provided.

“The Wildflower Pilgrimage offers you the chance to immerse yourself in Ohio’s most breathtaking of natural spectacles,” said Nancy Stranahan, director of the non-profit Arc of Appalachia. “Nature lovers of all ages are in great company at this event!”

A photography workshop led by professional photographer and author Tom Croce is also offered this year, concurrent with the Pilgrimage. The workshop’s indoor sessions will be held in Whispering Springs, one of the sanctuary’s newest facilities located roughly one mile south of the Appalachian Forest Museum. Participants will put into practice their newly learned skills by visiting and photographing the various trails within the 2,200-acre Highlands Nature Sanctuary.

“My goal in coming to the sanctuary is to help you master the camera in your hands and help you make the most of your shooting adventures” said Croce.

The Wildflower Pilgrimage traditional event is $135 per person, which includes field trips, meals and evening presentations. A photography course with shared Wildflower Pilgrimage meals and evening presentations is $185 per person.
