Annual scholarships awards were made Tuesday by the Hillsboro Rotary Club. Scholarships of $750 each were given to Margaret Carr, center, of Whiteoak High School, and Bryanna Buerkle, right, of Hillsboro High School, presented by Rotary scholarship committee chair Kevin Boys, left. Students were asked to submit applications listing career goals, community service, leadership activities and honors and achievements. Grades and ACT/SAT scores were also considered. Counselors who assisted in the process were Tina Young at Hillsboro and Alison Bach-Oliver at Whiteoak. Other Rotary scholarship committee members were Rocky Coss, Lee Koogler, Tausha Barton, Keith Chambers and Kraig Walker.
