Pike Lake 17th annual Appalachian Music Festival

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) invites the public to the 17th annual Appalachian Music Festival to be held at Pike Lake State Park’s John Cooper Memorial Amphitheater on Saturday, June 24 from 1-9 p.m.

A list of performers currently scheduled is as follows:

1 p.m. – Gary and Toni Sager and friends will play mountain dulcimers. The Sagers own and operate Prussia Valley Dulcimers where these instruments are beautifully handcrafted by Gary in Waverly.

2 p.m. – Tony Dzik and sons from Wakefield will play a variety of Dzik’s original blues compositions.

3 p.m. – Portsmouth native Alan Reed will perform classic oldies. Reed currently frequents clubs around Columbus with his smooth sound.

4 p.m. – The Over Easy Band from Waverly includes members of the Sagraves family playing oldies, pop and gospel. This is their first appearance at Pike Lake State Park.

5 p.m. – Waverly native Stephanie Stanley will present a mixture of country, folk and bluegrass favorites.

6 p.m. – The Doss Brothers Band will play bluegrass and gospel music. The Doss family is originally from this area and the annual festival has become a family reunion.

7 p.m. – The Sodbusters, Dan Daly and son from McArthur and Mark Lewis of Waverly, are frequent guests at the John Cooper Amphitheater with their mix of oldies and bluegrass.

8 p.m. – Breitenbaugh’s Uptown Bluegrass Band, a local favorite, features Wade, Carrie and Cabel Brietenbaugh performing gospel and bluegrass favorites.

Note: All performers are volunteering their time and talent so the festival schedule is subject to change.)

The amphitheater features ample shaded seating, picnic tables and room for lawn chairs. Food will be available for purchase from local vendor Hog Holler Barb E Que, which will offer smoked pork, brisket, hot dogs, hand-cut fries and more. Snacks and hand-dipped ice cream will also be available at the park store.
