The Brush and Palette Art Guild is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary at the Annual Art Show on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25t from 1-5 p.m. both days. The show will be held at the central campus of Southern State Community College, 100 Hobart Drive in Hillsboro.

Admission and parking are free and light refreshments will be served.

Work from both professional and non-professional artists will be on display and for sale. New this year will be the Artisan Market which will feature artwork not in competition and including other artisan quality items for sale. Young visitors will be invited to add their talent to the design of a mural.

The judge this year is Jason Clary, a representational artist and educator from Cincinnati.

One of the highlights of the show is the critique given by the judge on Saturday afternoon. Cleary will walk through the show area, answer questions, and discuss how and why he awarded the winner ribbons.

The theme for the show is Historic Highland County. The guild has partnered this year with the Highland County Historical Society to help promote its 2017 Tour of Homes and Historic Buildings, being held on Sunday, June 11 from noon to 5 p.m. Some of the artists have done paintings of the homes featured on the tour and will be available with their artwork at each location.

Tickets for the Home Tour are $15 and are available in advance at Wilkin-Wilkin Insurance, Burwinkle Dentistry and the Highland House Museum. For further information call 937-393-4193.
