What’s going on at the Greenfield library

Many thanks to all our patrons who participated in our summer reading program titled Build a Better World this year. We had over 340 participants and hope that all who joined us for the various programs and great books had as much fun as we did.

We want to say a big thank you to the following individuals and businesses for their support and donations. They truly were instrumental in making this year’s program so successful: Advance Auto Parts, Alley 21, Becky and Jeff Johnson, Big City Pizza, Buck’s Tire, Chakeres Theatres, Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Zoo, Community Markets, COSI, Dakotas, Dominos, Greenfield Chiropractic, Hardy Memorials, Highland Lanes, Jett’s Embroidery, Kings Island, Kroger, Long’s Retreat, McClain Athletic Department, McDonald’s, New Sabina Industries, Newport Aquarium, Ohio Renaissance Festival, Ohio State Fair, Pizza Hut, Robbins Village Florist, Roller Haven, Save-A-Lot, Southern Hills Community Bank, Star Cinema, Subway, Tecumseh, The Beach Waterpark, The Glitz, Trendsetters, Walgreens and Weller’s Plumbing & Heating and Wendy’s.

We also appreciate the following people who provided free programs or volunteered their services this summer: Ronald McDonald, Rick Schluep from Compassion International, Tonia McLanahan, John Losey, Annette Cockerill, Kendall and Kerrigan Pollard, Drew Hamilton, Fern Truitt from the Highlands Nature Sanctuary, Homer the Dog and Amy, and Blair Aukeman.

We had a fantastic time at all of our programs this year and we hope our patrons did, too.

We will host a book talk and signing at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10 and Greenfield McClain graduate and author Jason Hughes will discuss his new book “The Darkness” and sign copies that will be available for purchase. Join us for a great evening.

The library staff is looking forward to participating in the Back to School Bash at the First Presbyterian Church in Greenfield on Aug. 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. We also want to remind all students heading back to school this month that we are here to assist them with all their research and reference needs. Please stop in or call us, or you can visit us online at www.highlandco.org.

There will be no story times during the month of August. Our story times will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 19. We hope to see new faces as well as old friends on that date. Please call us for more information regarding our story time program or stop by the front desk for a story time brochure.

We hope you will enjoy the remainder of your summer days with great books from the Greenfield library.

We look forward to seeing you during the month of August.
