Adena Sports Medicine has two new physicians

The Adena Bone and Joint Center has announced it has added two sports medicine physicians to its team.

Sports medicine can be a patient’s first line of treatment when it comes to dealing with orthopedic injuries of the bones, ligaments or tendons. Joining Adena’s team of Sports Medicine providers are Dr. Oludare Ogunsola and Dr. Eric Liu.

A former college athlete, Ogunsola knows first-hand what it is like to be a patient with a sports-related injury, something that led him to a career in sports medicine.

“During my freshman year soccer season, I tore my ACL,” he said. “At the time I was injured, I was able to get to know my orthopedic doctor and saw first-hand what the occupation entailed. I could tell he really loved what he did, and he enjoyed working with young athletes. From this, I was able to turn my injury into something positive. Now, as a physician, I am hoping to help other athletes and patients do the same.”

Ogunsola earned his medical degree from New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine’s School of Medicine and Dentistry. He went on to complete his residency at Houston Healthcare, located in Warner Robins, Ga., and completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Nova Southeastern University, located in Miami, Fla.

Liu earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, located in Dominica. During his residency and fellowship there, he worked with many athletes, thriving on the complexity of sports injuries.

“While I have always had an interest in sports, I have also always been very problem-focused and driven to find answers,” Liu explained. “I chose to specialize in sports medicine because working with patients with these types of injuries is like solving a puzzle.”

In addition to seeing patients at ABJC, Liu was also recently named the team physician for McClain High School in Greenfield, where he will be available to care for high school athletes who become injured during play.

Ogunsola and Liu are currently accepting new patients of all ages. To schedule an appointment, call 740-779-4598.
