During the 2017 Highland County Fair the Hillsboro FFA had nine members exhibit market broilers.

Kristin Jamieson was named Reserve Grand Champion and Reserve Rate of Gain Champion with her market broilers. Jamieson then moved on to represent poultry in Showman of Showmen and won overall.

Brittany Rhoads won third in her market class and also won Egg and Poultry Judging Overall.

Alora Brown was a first-time exhibitor and she placed third in her market weight class.

Along with Jamieson, Brown and Rhoads, the Hillsboro FFA exhibitors were Hayden Miller, Riley Burba, Ben Remsing, Caleb Knight, Schuyler Griffith and Reagan Kiley.

“Showing chickens was kind of scary for my first time. But looking back it was a great experience and I really enjoyed it,” said Brown.

Regan Kiley also had a learning experience this year saying, “Even though I didn’t place at my show, I still learned a lot and it is just going to help me prepare for next year and to keep improving each year I show.”

The Hillsboro FFA Chapter and Poultry Association would like to thank the buyers and community for supporting the county fair and for having a great year.
