Marshall Fall Fun-Fest

The Marshall School Committee will host a Fall Fun-Fest at the Marshall School Gymnasium from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21. There will be carnival games, face painting, grocery bingo, popcorn and cake walks. Game tickets are 25 cents each or five for $1. Fish, sloppy joes, coney dogs, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, cole slaw and homemade pies will be available for a freewill donation. A costume contest will be held at 6 p.m. Registration will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. All proceeds will be used for the renovation and upkeep of the gym. Lynchburg Halloween Spooktacular

The village of Lynchburg Halloween Spooktacular will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21. There will be food, games, a hay ride, haunted bridge and a costume contest.

Mt. Washington revival

Revival services will be held at the Mt. Washington Church of Christ, located on SR 247 at Mt. Washington Road, Oct. 20-22. Friday and Saturday evenings will begin with a musical preglow at 6:45 p.m. and the evening service starts at 7 p.m. Sunday morning service will start with Sunday school at 10 a.m. and communion worship at 10:45 a.m. The guest evangelist for the meeting will be Aaron Davis from Pikeville, Ky. Davis has been a regular featured speaker at the annual Hillsboro Family Camp and is in much demand as a preacher of the word. The music will be led by Kirk Hacker.

Highland Co. Humane Society

The Highland County Humane Society, 9331 SR 124, east of Hillsboro, will hold its annual membership meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24 in the basement meeting room of the Highland County Administration Building, 114 Gov. Foraker Place, Hillsboro.

Greenfield Halloween Parade

The Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire District will host the annual Halloween Parade in Greenfield on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Line-up will be on Fifth Street next to the elementary school at 5 p.m. The parade starts at 6 p.m. Hot dogs, chips and drinks for participants will be available after the parade.

More Than a Trunk of Treat

Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene is hosting More Than a Trunk of Treat on Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. You are invited to join in the night of fun and candy. Activities will include trunk or treating, carnival games and refreshments. Businesses or individuals who are interested in setting up a trunk should contact the church office at 937-393-3545.

Lynchburg-Clay Board of Ed

The Lynchburg-Clay Board of Education will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the Lynchburg-Clay Board of Education Building.

Madison Township zoning

A public meeting has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the Madison Township Building on Centerfield Road near Greenfield. The topic of discussion is the rezoning of a property owned by Jesse Stoltz, 12325 Pommert Road, from agriculture to commercial.

Senior Center Halloween

A Halloween party, indoor trick or treat (6-8 p.m.), haunted house (6-9 p.m.), costume contests for children and adults (8 p.m.) and more will be held at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center in Hillsboro on Saturday, Oct. 28. Soup’s On Free Meal

The Soup’s On Free Meal will be served Saturday, Oct. 28 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, corner of North High and North streets, Hillsboro. Prayer and praise will be at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served from 5-6 p.m. The menu will be potato soup, pimento cheese sandwiches, fruit cocktail, assorted drinks and desserts.

Senior Veterans Program

A Veterans Program and Dinner will be held at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center on Friday, Nov. 3. Doors open at 5 p.m. with dinner and a program to follow. The veterans’ dinners are free, and dinner for all others is $7. All proceeds will be donated to the VFW Post 9094 Veteran’s Relief Fund. All veterans and the community are invited. Reservation are required and can be made by calling 393-4745.

Jingle Bell Bazaar

The Jingle Bell Bazaar will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 at Hillsboro Elementary School. Any interested in renting space can call Jordan Freeze at 9378-944-1074.

Turkey Bingo

Whole turkeys will be the prizes when Turkey Bingo is held at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center on Saturday, Nov. 4. Doors open at noon with lunch and raffles and bingo will be played from 1-4 p.m. You must be 18 or older to play. Games are 25 cents per card, per game. Proceeds benefit the senior center. Highland Co. Retired Teachers

The regular quarterly meeting of the Highland County Retired Teachers Association (HCRTA) will be held Monday, Nov. 6 at the Senior Citizen Center in Hillsboro. It will begin at noon with a luncheon followed by the program. The guest speaker will be Tamla Cole from the State Teachers’ Retirement System. She will discuss health care and a variety of issues pertinent to retired educators. The HCRTA business meeting will follow the speaker’s presentation. All retired educators are invited and encouraged to attend. The luncheon costs$10 and reservations must be made by Oct. 30. Brushcreek dinner, auction

A Thanksgiving dinner and auction will be held Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Brushcreek Community Center (Sinking Spring gym). Serving starts at 5 p.m. and the auction will start around 7 p.m. The menu will include turkey and dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, salads, rolls, homemade desserts, coffee, pop and water. A freewill donation will be accepted.

SOESC Governing Board

The Southern Ohio Educational Service Center Governing Board will have its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Region 14/Hopewell, 5350 W. New Market Road, Hillsboro.
