Committee will review budget
The Hillsboro City Council Finance Committee will to review the 2018 budget at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11 at the Hillsboro City Building.
A clinic for immunizations only will be held from 1-4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11 at the Highland County Health Department, 1487 N. High St., Suite 400, Hillsboro.
Alzheimer’s Lunch & Learn
On Dec. 11 beginning at 11 a.m. the Alzheimer’s Association will present a Lunch & Learn event featuring the topic: Understanding and Responding to Dementia. The event will be held at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center, 185 Muntz St., Hillsboro. To register call 1-800-272-3900.
Liberty Township Trustees
The Liberty Township Trustees meeting scheduled for Dec. 11 has been postponed and rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28 at the township building.
The Care-A-Van Health Assessment Clinic, provided by the Highland County Health Department and Highland District Hospital, will visit the Shopko parking lot in Greenfield from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12.
Lynchburg-Clay Board of Ed
The Lynchburg-Clay Board of Education will meet in regular session at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13 at the high school library.
Lynchburg Lions Candy Sale
The Lynchburg Lions Club is selling bulk candy through December at Southern Hills Community Bank in Lynchburg. Eighteen varieties are available during regular business hours.
Fairfield I Made It Bazaar
Grow! Highland County is partnering with the Fairfield Elementary PTO in sponsoring their first ever holiday I Made It Bazaar from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15 at Fairfield Elementary. The goal is to encourage entrepreneurship with Fairfield students in grades K-8 as they showcase crafts, jewelry, ornaments, hair bows, holiday decorations, art, sweets and more items all handmade by the students for sale.
Northview outdoor nativity
The Northview Baptist Church, 1139 Northview Drive, Hillsboro, will hold a live outdoor nativity presentation from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16. There will be live animals and free cider, hot chocolate and snacks while the story of the birth of Jesus is told.
Christmas party in Belfast
Knights of Pythias Lodge 696, 1879 SR 73, Belfast, will hold a Christmas Party Saturday, Dec. 16. Festivities begin at 5:45 p.m. with dinner at 6:15 p.m. There will be drawings, door prizes, 50/50 drawings, food, prizes, games and Santa will arrive at 7:30 p.m. Those attending should bring a covered dish. Dodsonville Chrismon Service
The Dodsonville Community Church, 1810 U.S. Route 50, 12 miles west of Hillsboro, will hold a Chrismon Service at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17. Chrismons are Christmas decorations with Christian symbols on them that help Christians remember that Christmas is the celebration of Jesus’ birthday. The church will be decorating a tree, listening to program specials, singing and holding a candle light song. Refreshments will be served.
St. Mary’s Advent, Christmas
St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 234 N. High St., Hillsboro, will present a program of music for the Advent and Christmas season at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17. The concert will combine musicians from both St. Mary’s and Peace Lutheran Church performing on piano, organ, flute, horn and hand bells. This will be the final 2017 program in the Music at St. Mary’s Concert Series, which is offered free to the community. On March 18, 2018, St. Mary’s will continue the series with the Cincinnati Dulcimer Society performing and teaching about Appalachian dulcimers. 5th Christmas Day Dinner
The Hillsboro First Baptist Church, 127 S. West St., will hold its fifth annual Christmas Day Dinner titled “A Feast for a King” on Monday, Dec. 25.
