The Highland County Retired Teachers’ Association (HCRTA) held its fall meeting on November 5 at the Ponderosa Banquet Center in Hillsboro.

Special guests included State Ohio Retired Teachers Association President Bee Lehner, AMBA Representative Bonnie Norris, Southwest Ohio ORTA Directors Becky Cropper and Evelyn Yockey, and several visiting members from Adams and Brown counties.

Following the luncheon the main program was presented by Hope Short, the member education specialist from STRS in Columbus. She discussed various health care plans and options as well as some interesting facts about retirees in Ohio.

The group heard numerous reports from committee chairpersons. Donations to the scholarship program and the community service projects were collected. Officers for 2019 were elected. Those serving include President R. D. Hottle, Vice President Jim Faust, Secretary Kevin Black and Treasurer Doris Pulse.

The next meeting will be on Feb. 4 at the Ponderosa Banquet Center. All retired educators are encouraged to attend.
