During the 2019 Highland County Fair the Hillsboro FFA Chapter had five members exhibit beef. Members participated in showmanship, skillathon and the open and junior shows. Those who exhibited were Joe Helterbrand, Lawton Parry, Gavin Puckett, Griffin Puckett and Mallory Parsons.

On Sept. 3, members participated in the beef showmanship contest. This contest is based on courtesy shown to the other showmen, how well the animal is presented and how knowledgeable the exhibitor is concerning their animal. Parsons got second place in her division.

Following showmanship was County Born and Bred Fat steers. This year, Parry won Reserve Grand Champion County Born and Bred Fat Steer.

The Jr. Fair Beef show was held on Sept. 5. In the Beef Breeding show, member Gavin Puckett was awarded Champion Maine-Anjou Heifer. Following the Breeding show was the feeder calf and fat steer show. During the feeder calf show, Gavin Puckett was third in his class. Griffin Puckett was second in class, and Parsons won her division. During the fat steer show, Parry was awarded with a first and third in class. Helterbrand had a first in class. Gavin Puckett had a third place finish.

Congratulations to all the members who participated in the 2019 Highland County Beef Show.
