Adena offering curbside flu shots

Adena Health Center – Woodlands will hold a second curbside flu shot event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at 311 Caldwell St. Chillicothe. You will not need to leave your vehicle.

“We were beyond impressed with the community’s responsiveness to our first curbside flu shot event and feel as if it only makes sense for us to do it again,” said Hanna Brown, service line director of primary care. “This was the first time we’ve offered this service to the public, without requiring an appointment or be an established patient at Adena, and the positive feedback and appreciation the community expressed as a result of the event was phenomenal. Our caregivers provided nearly 300 flu vaccinations in about four hours, without having to ask anyone to step out of their vehicle. The best part was the fact that kids were able to remain in their car seats, which made it much quicker and easier for parents.”

You do not need an appointment for the curbside flu shot event and adults and children can both receive their flu shot during the event. For children over 6 months and adults, the flu shot can prevent them from getting sick, prevent flu-related hospitalizations and potentially lessen symptoms or length of illness should they get a strain of the flu. Have your insurance card and an ID ready upon arrival. Most insurance companies will cover the cost of a yearly flu shot. If you do not have insurance, the cost will be $19.99. Due to enhanced safety precautions, only credit cards will be accepted during the event. No cash.
