Adena Move More Challenge community kick off

Adena Health System is expanding its Move More Challenge to include individuals throughout the region.

What began as a health-related activity in 2014 for Adena caregivers only, expanded last year to include a half dozen organizations and is now open to anyone living in Adena’s 12-county service region. The 12-week challenge opened Monday and runs through July 31, 2016. Online registration is now open, and a community kick-off is scheduled for Wednesday, May 4 at noon at Chillicothe’s downtown Carlisle Building.

The Move More Challenge encourages participants to add 90 minutes of activity to their weekly routine. It is intended to help participants achieve better habits and better health. Activities can include: walking, running, biking, taking an exercise class, and more.

The Move More Community Challenge is free, and participants may register online at www.movemorechallenge.net.

Anyone who logs 90 minutes of added activity or more each week, for all 12 weeks, will be entered in to a drawing for prizes including: an Apple watch, kayak, treadmill, weekend getaway, and more. You do not need to be present at the kick-off to be in eligible for the prizes.

However, to win, participants must be registered by May 7 and live in a county within Adena’s service area. Those counties include: Adams, Athens, Fayette, Gallia, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton.

Each week, participants will receive an email directing them to the website where they will log their activity time. The website will keep track of all minutes recorded, and will include tips on diet, exercise, and suggestions for walking paths in the area.
