The National Research Corporation has selected Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro as its 2015 Path to Excellence Award. Highland District Hospital was recognized at the 21st annual NRC Picker Patient-Centered Symposium in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, Sept. 20.
National Research selected Path to Excellence Award recipients based on their achievement within categories that patients have identified as being most important to the quality of their care. The award is only bestowed upon those organizations that are ranked by patients as being a top performer.
The winners were selected from the extensive database of National Research hospital clients for their performance over the last four quarters. Highland District Hospital was selected for its improvement in inpatient customer services from the time period of April 2013 – March 2014 to April 2014 – March 2015.
“I am proud of our staff at Highland District Hospital and the great work and service the staff provides to the community. This recognition exemplifies the importance our staff places on excellence,” stated Jim Baer, president and CEO of HDH.
“Implementing improvement processes are difficult and require large amounts of time and resources so when organizations make the commitment to look past those constraints, it really defines who the winners are,” said Helen Hrdy, senior vice president of client service at National Research. “We congratulate Highland District Hospital for truly defining patient-centered care.”
As a 2015 award recipient, HDH is among a select group of health care innovators leading the way on the path to patient-centered care.
