Bridges Road reopened to traffic

One month ahead of its scheduled completion, a dual bridge replacement and realignment project on Bridges Road in Highland County has been wrapped up and the route is now open to traffic.

Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the Highland County Engineer’s Office have been working to replace a pair of bridges located on Bridges Road at the 17.43-mile marker over Bull Creek, approximately one-half mile north of SR 771, and at the 16.78-mile marker over Hardin Creek, south of SR 771.

The multi-phased project, which required closure of Bridges Road at both structures during construction, also included significant approach work to correct horizontal and vertical deficiencies, as well as the relocation of the Bridges Road intersection with Grimsley Road.

DGM, Inc. of Beaver was awarded a contract for approximately $2.13 million to complete the project, and although the scheduled completion date was Oct. 31, they were able to work ahead of schedule for much of the second half of the project and reopen the road to traffic this week.
