The Southern State Community Band will honor the nation’s veterans with a Veterans Day concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College’s Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The Paint Valley Junior ROTC will make a special appearance for the event. This year’s concert will honor World War II veterans with patriotic music from the era.

The Southern State Community Band was formed more than 10 years ago and since its first days as an ensemble, has performed annual concerts in honor of veterans. Founding member Corrine Erickson was a member of the first all-women military WAF Band.

The band includes both students and community members, and welcomes new members at any time. Rehearsals are held at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays in the auditorium. For more information, contact Brian Siemers at [email protected].
