The Rocky Fork Lake Community Alliance announced the members that will lead the RFLA during their first board of directors meeting Oct. 24.
The election for the RFLA Board of Directors was held at the Oct. 17 community meeting, where the residents in attendance voted for the nominees on the ballot.
Members who gained the most votes and earning three-year terms were Dan Cowdrey, Earl Hughes, Brett Kirkpatrick and Bob Rea.
Two-year terms were awarded to Rich Housh, Joey McGuire, Roger Ruggles and Ralph VanZant. Those receiving one-year terms were Margie Brunner, Mike Smith, Kimberly McGuire-Haynes and Rachelle Workman.
Officers were also elected for the RFLA Board of Directors during the Oct. 24 meeting.
Cowdrey was elected president, Earl Hughes was named vice president, Bob Rea was named secretary and Margie Brunner was named treasurer.
At the first community meeting for the RFLA a total of 139 people attended. The Rocky Fork Lake area has approximately 5,000 residents living in the area.
"Things are looking very good with much interest to create more activity at Rocky Fork Lake," Hughes said.
The members of the board of directors discussed the seven areas of interest.
The top priority for concern voted on by the residents of the RFL area was the crime in the area.
The other areas of concern included: lake preservation, neighborhood cleanup, community development, tourism, adjoining property owners and sportsmen's activities.
Several committees were formed by the members of the RFL area.
The public relations committee is chaired by McGuire-Haynes. The membership committee is chaired by Workman.
The first meeting of the board of directors solidified the mission of the community alliance, which is to improve the quality of life for the residents and businesses in the Rocky Fork Lake area.
"I'm looking forward to working with all the Rocky Fork Lake residents and Highland County to make Rocky Fork Lake a better place to live," Hughes said.
The next meeting of the board of directors will be held Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Rocky Fork Lake Activity Center. The next community meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Rocky Fork Lake Restaurant.
