The Ohio Department of Agriculture this week released official dates for the 2010 fair season which will begin June 14 and run through Oct. 16.
In Highland County, gates will open to the 2010 fair on Saturday, Sept. 4 and close Saturday, Sept. 11.
While still nine months away, planning is under way for next year's fair and winter months will be used to consider changes or assess issues.
New to the Highland County Fair in 2009, an admission-free partial day was opened to the public in the middle of the week providing an opportunity for all residents to attend. Fair Board President Dave Stratton previously told The Times-Gazette that they hope to offer the same thing in 2010.
In neighboring Fayette County, fair dates are scheduled for July 19-24 after the fair board put in an application to change dates due to a conflict with the Ohio State Fair July 28-Aug. 8.
Fairs in other neighboring counties will be held as follows: Clinton County, July 10-17; Adams County, July 18-24; Pike County, July 30-Aug. 7; Ross County, Aug. 7-14; and Brown County, Sept. 27-Oct. 2.
Paulding County will hold the first 2010 county fair in Ohio June 14-19 and the season will come to a close with the Fairfield County (Lancaster) Fair Oct. 10-16.
