Health Insurance Open Enrollment

Highland District Hospital and the Freestore Foodbank are teaming up to host a series of Health Insurance Open Enrollment events at the hospital. Qualified assisters will help you choose the best coverage for you and your family. Appointments will begin at 4 p.m. and will be scheduled every half hour through 8 p.m. on the following dates: Friday, Dec. 9; and Friday, Jan. 6. Appointments are preferred. Care-A-Van schedule

The Care-A-Van Health Assessment Clinic will visit the Highland County Senior Citizen parking lot from 9 a.m. to noon and the Kmart parking lot from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15.

Hunter Education Course

The Highland County Coon Hunters Club and the Ohio Division of Wildlife are sponsoring a Hunter Education Course on Nov. 15, 16 and 18 at the Coon Hunters Clubhouse on Carper Lane. The times are 6-9 p.m. on the 15th and 16th and 6-10 p.m. on the 30th. Students age 10 and under must attend with an adult. The course covers gun safety, firearms, ammunition, hunter ethics, first aid, archery, field care of game, habitat and other subjects essential to being a hunter and outdoorsman. The course ends with a 100-question test which must be passed with a score of 80 percent or better. There is no fee for the course and students must attend all three sessions. Preregistration is required by logging on to the ODNR Division of Wildlife website and clicking on Hunter Education, or calling 1-800-WILDLIFE. Meal preparation class

The meal preparation class at the Greenfield Area Christian Center Food Pantry, 910 N. Fifth St., will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16. Participants will prepare a food dish, receive ingredients for a second one, recipes for both, and be able to take the items home with them. Call 937-981-7176 for more information.

Leesburg Wesleyan revival

The Leesburg Wesleyan Church, corner of SR 28 and U.S. Route 62, will hold a revival Nov. 16-20. Services are at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. There will be preaching by the Rev. Delbert Allison and local talent will provide music.

Lynchburg Clay School Board

The Lynchburg-Clay Board of Education will meet in regular session at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Lynchburg-Clay Board of Education building.

SSCC, Ohio Valley Schools

The boards of the Adams County Ohio Valley Schools and Southern State Community College will host a community meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 at Ohio Valley Career and Technical Center, 175 Lloyd Rd., West Union. The purpose of the meeting is to further explore the possibility of a Southern State campus adjacent to ACOV’s central administrative office and career and technical center. Following a presentation by the administrators of the college and school district, community members will have the opportunity to ask questions and comment on the proposed project.

The SSCC Board of Trustees will meet earlier at the same location. The agenda includes annual ethics training at 5 p.m. and a board meeting at 6 p.m.

Calvary Chapel revival

The Calvary Chapel Church in Rainsboro will hold a revival Nov. 17-20 with services at 7 p.m. nightly. Preaching will be by Danny Campbell and singing by The McDaniels Family and visiting talent.

Leesburg fire district meeting

Children’s Holiday Tea Party

A Children’s Holiday Tea Party will be held by the Highland County Historical Society at its Highland House Museum at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20 for kids ages 6-10. There will be an elegant tea party, entertainment favors for each child, crafts and a gift bag. The cost is $7.50 per child and the deadline for reservations is Monday, Nov. 14. Hillsboro changes meeting date

The Hillsboro City Schools Board of Education has changed its regular meeting date for the month to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21 at the board offices at 39 Willettsville Pike.

Open Door free meal

The Open Door free meal at the Greenfield United Methodist Church will be held Saturday, Nov. 26. Serving will be from 4 to 4:30 p.m. The menu is chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, peas, rolls and pumpkin dessert. Everyone is welcome.

Breakfast with Santa

Breakfast with Santa, the Grinch and Frozen-like Friends is Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center. Tickets are $5 and $3 and include a picture with Santa, breakfast, decorating a life-size ginger bread house and more. Advance ticket holders don’t wait in the admission line. Mowrystown Holiday Craft Fair

The Mowrystown Holiday Craft Fair & Bazaar will be held at Whiteoak High School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. Lunch will be available. The menu will include soups, sandwiches, chips, candy, pies, cakes and drinks. Santa will make an appearance following the holiday parade, which will begin at Crop Production (West Main Street) at 1 p.m. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served while pictures with Santa are being taken. St. Mary Holiday Bazaar

The St. Mary Catholic School Holiday Bazaar will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. there will be homemade crafts and vendors set up to help with great ideas. The youth group will be selling food. Call 937-840-9932 with questions or to reserve a booth.
