The man law enforcement believes to be responsible for a fatal shooting near Greenfield and possibly another shooting in Ross County was apprehended late Tuesday after chases involving several agencies.

Sheriff Donnie Barrera said that Jeffrey Ryan Holsinger of Greenfield was apprehended in Hilliard, Ohio, following chases with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington Court House Police Department and, finally, law enforcement in Hilliard, where he was trapped after pursuit by a police helicopter.

Holsinger’s arrest came after a man was found shot to death in a bathroom in a home near Greenfield Tuesday, and another shooting in Ross County that may be connected.

Earlier, law enforcement officials said they were searching for Holsinger, who was believed to be driving a 2011 black 4-door Cadillac with Florida license tags ELFD49. Barrera had warned people not to approach the suspect, and to contact law enforcement if he was spotted.

Barrera said the sheriff’s office received a call at around 2:10 p.m. Tuesday reporting that a man was robbed and pistol whipped in Higginsville, just outside Greenfield.

Upon arrival, a deputy discovered a man shot to death in the bathroom of the house.

Dr. Jeff Beery, the county coroner, was on the scene and told The Times-Gazette that the victim is in his mid-30s. Beery said a firm identification of the victim was close to being made. He said the victim would be taken to Montgomery County for an autopsy.

Barrera said BCI was on the scene.

Meanwhile, another individual was shot in Ross County on Tuesday, and Barrera said the two shootings appear to be connected. That shooting victim was transferred to Columbus by medical helicopter, Barrera said.

Barrera earlier said that Holsinger might be accompanied by a female. The Cadillac Holsinger was said to be driving was stolen, said the sheriff.
