Leesburg man involved in fatal crash

A Leesburg man was involved in a fatal accident Friday in Clinton County.

According to the Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash that occurred on Friday, Sept. 22 at 3:26 p.m. on U.S. Route 22 at Stone Road in Union Township.

The preliminary investigation showed that a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle, operated by Jacob Anders, 22, of Bloomingburg, was eastbound on U.S. 22 and slowed to make a left turn onto Stone Road. A 2007 Volkswagen Jetta, operated by Tyler Stewart, 20, of Leesburg, failed to slow and struck the motorcycle in the rear, according to a news release from the state patrol.

Both vehicles ran off the right side of the road and the driver of the motorcycle was ejected, the state patrol stated.

Anders, the driver of the motorcycle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Anders was not wearing a helmet, the patrol stated.

There are no injuries reported to Stewart, the driver of the Volkswagen Jetta.

The state patrol said Stewart was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
