Area residents are being offered a chance to send soldiers and local veterans a taste of home for the holidays.

The Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro said it is proud to be one of more than 800 exclusive Veterans & Family Memorial Care funeral home providers across the United States participating in the ninth annual VFMC Christmas Stocking for Soldiers & Veterans initiative.

From now through Nov. 30, those interested in the program can stop by the funeral home and pick up a free Christmas stocking to take home, decorate and stuff with Christmas cheer. Anyone picking up a stocking will also receive a list of recommended items to place in the stocking.

The Thompson Funeral Home will deliver the stockings to veterans at the Georgetown Veterans Home in time for Christmas.

“Providing our heroes with some good tidings and holiday cheer is a great way for us to show our support and appreciation for the sacrifices they make to keep our country safe and secure” said Steven Thompson, owner of the Thompson Funeral Home.

People can stop by the funeral home from now through Nov. 30 on Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to pick up your free Christmas stocking.

The Thompson Funeral Home is located at 241 E. Main St., Hillsboro. For more information, call the funeral home at 937- 393-2373.
