A 22-year-old Hillsboro woman was killed Friday morning in a three-vehicle crash on SR 73 in Clinton County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Friday it is currently investigating a three-vehicle fatal traffic crash that occurred on SR 73 at Antioch Road in Union Township, Clinton County at approximately 7:55 a.m. Friday.

The patrol said that preliminary investigation indicates that Hailee Heflin, 22, Hillsboro, was operating a 2001 Toyota Camry southeast on SR 73 when she slowed to make a left turn upon approaching Antioch Road.

The vehicle driven by Heflin was then struck from behind by a 2014 Toyota Corolla being operated by Ethan Adkins, 19, Hillsboro.

Heflin’s vehicle was then forced left of center and was struck head-on by a 2014 Ford Econoline 350 van, operated by Douglas Rice, 61, of Oregonia.

The patrol said Heflin was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Heflin’s male 2-year-old child passenger was transported to Greene County Memorial Hospital in critical condition, the patrol said.

Rice and his three passengers, Christopher Wenger, 21, Bainbridge, Noah Wenger, 31, Hillsboro, and Duane Auker, 40, Bainbridge, were all transported to Clinton Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Adkins was not transported.

The crash remains under investigation.
