The Hillsboro Police Department and the Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire department responded to a two-car wreck shortly after noon Sunday on South High Street in Hillsboro near the Ponderosa restaurant. A white Chevrolet Malibu struck a red Nissan from behind while both were northbound near the traffic light. The driver of the Malibu was transported to Highland District Hospital for evaluation, but responders on the scene said injuries did not appear to be serious. No other injuries were reported. Traffic was temporarily re-routed until both vehicles were towed from the scene. Police said later that Velma Hollingsworth, 83, Hillsboro, the driver of the 2002 Chevrolet sedan, had a medical condition that interfered with her driving and resulted in her vehicle striking the rear of the 2007 Nissan driven by William D. Hilterbran, 55, of Hillsboro.
