Just as he is leading most Republican polls across the nation, Donald Trump is the favorite among Highland County Republican voters, according to a “corn poll” conducted at the Highland County Fair.

The Highland County GOP reported this week that Trump won its corn poll with 497 votes. In second place was Ben Carson with 316, and Carly Fiorina coming in third with 253.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich was fourth with 130 corn votes.

The voting was conducted at the GOP fair booth by people dropping corn kernels into a jar representing their choice.

Other finishers were: Jeb Bush, 72; Mike Huckabee, 46; Ted Cruz, 41; Rand Paul, 35; Marco Rubio, 30; Scott Walker, 24; Chris Christie, 17; Rick Perry, 16; George Pataki, 8; Bobby Jindal, 7; Rick Santorum, 6; and Lindsey Graham, 2.

The GOP candidates square off for their second official debate Wednesday night at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., with CNN televising.
