Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Aug. 6-12, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 308 911 calls, answered 127 requests for service, dispatched 132 fire and EMS runs, took 25 offense reports and investigated two traffic crashes.

At 7:03 a.m. on Aug. 6 the sheriff’s office received a 911 from a Lynchburg resident reporting her ex-boyfriend had broken in to her home and assaulted her. Deputies were dispatched to the scene, spoke to the victim and an offense report was taken. The suspect, Quentin L. Aubry, was arrested and charged with one count of burglary. Additional charges are likely pending further investigation.

Deputies were dispatched to a Lovers Lane residence at 7:23 p.m. on Aug. 7 to investigate a burglary. The homeowner called the sheriff’s office after returning home and finding her home ransacked. An offense report was taken.

The sheriff’s office received a call at 10:52 p.m. on Aug. 7 from the 10000 block of SR 28 reporting a domestic dispute between a husband and wife. Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene along with officers from the Leesburg Police Department. The male half had left by the time law enforcement arrived, but he was later located and arrested at a residence in Fayette County. Vernon B. Bennett, 40, was charged with one count of domestic violence and one count of domestic menacing.
