A Hillsboro man has been charged with rape following a report to the Hillsboro Police Department last week.
An affidavit filed with the Hillsboro Municipal Court states that police received the report on Thursday. The alleged rape reportedly involved a 12-year old female, the affidavit adds.
The alleged victim reportedly “admitted to being raped numerous times by Edward L. Conant Jr. during the summer of 2010 when the female was 7 years old,” according to the affidavit.
The responding officer reported that he interviewed Conant, 46, on Friday. The affidavit states that Conant allegedly “confessed to having repeated sexual conduct with the juvenile, who was less than 10 years of age, from the year 2010 to the year 2014.”
Conant was charged with first-degree felony rape, the affidavit adds. He appeared in the municipal court on Monday.
His bond was set $75,000, according to court records. If Conant posts that bond, he will be on reporting probation. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 25.
