Noncompliance earns Hillsboro man prison time

A Hillsboro man was sentenced to prison Thursday for not following the orders of the court.

Trenton A. Zumwalde, 20, was sentenced to 10 months for heroin trafficking and 10 months for cocaine possession. The terms are to run consecutively. He pled guilty to the charges in October.

According to Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss, the defendant was arrested Wednesday on a warrant that was issued when Zumwalde failed to appear for his sentencing hearing a month ago.

The judge said that during the course of the case Zumwalde has done “almost nothing” that he was ordered to do.

The defendant was “on track” for probation, Coss said, but the court felt that he had “failed the attitude test.”

While the defendant is heading to prison now, Coss noted the possibility of the court considering judicial release after a period of time.

In another hearing, Coss revoked the bond of Kathy Lee Burke, aka Kathy Lee Wiggins, 32, Winchester, for failing to report as she was ordered.

Burke was sentenced to community control in May 2014 after pleading guilty to fifth-degree felony heroin possession. She was ordered to complete treatment at a residential facility earlier this year.

Burke will return to the court in January to face alleged probation violations.

In other proceedings, four defendants were sentenced to community control and treatment. Those individuals and the charges on which they were sentenced are: John Koch II, 25, Greenfield – trafficking in heroin; Dustin Wade Lightner, 36, Greenfield — trafficking in heroin; Tamika Dettwiller, 24, Greenfield – three counts of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine; Shawn Parr, 32, Greenfield — trafficking in marijuana in the vicinity of a school, trafficking in drugs in the vicinity of a school, and trafficking in drugs in the vicinity of a juvenile.
