HUBA Sidewalk Sale Friday, Saturday

What is hoped to become an annual event will be held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 4-5, during the Hillsboro Uptown Business Association Sidewalk Sale.

“The stores taking part will have racks of discounted items outside for purchase. Maybe they’ll be able to get rid of some of the summer inventory and bring people into their businesses so people can see what they have to offer,” HUBA President Sarah Roe said.

She said HUBA is hoping to make the sidewalk sale an annual event held each Labor Day weekend.

The 13 participating businesses include: Cundiff’s Flowers, 136 N. High St.; Main St. Apparel & Tux, 121 W. Main St.; Main St. Chic, 146 W. Main St.; White’s Bakery, 118 E. Main St.; The Mystery Shoppe, 110 S. High St.; Simply Southern Boutique, 111 S. High St.; Merle Norman Cosmetics, 123 S. High St.; The Design Chambers, 126 S. High St.; The Sugar Shack, 132 S. High St.; Old Town Ink, 136 S. High St.; Faiths Boutique, 8509 U.S. Route 62; Rustic Bee Boutique, 6117 Miller Lane; and From Me To You, 140 S. High St.

Roe said the participating businesses will be open during their regular business hours both days.

On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., a Kona Ice truck will be set up on the former BP station lot in the 100 block of West Main Street. Roe said a portion of the proceeds from each shaved ice sold will go to HUBA.

“We’re always trying to come up with new ideas to get people into the local businesses so they can see what the business has to offer, and to see if we can get people to come out and shop locally,” Roe said.

She said HUBA member businesses do not have to be located in the uptown Hillsboro area. Anyone wanting to joining the association can reach Roe at 937-218-1699.
