A resurfacing and bridge rehab project is set to begin Monday, April 11 on U.S. Route 50 in Highland County as the Ohio Department of Transportation District 9’s 2016 construction program gets underway.

Crews from the Shelly Company will be paving U.S. 50 from just west Carper Lane, approximately three miles east of Hillsboro, to the Ross County line. Included in the 10.32-mile resurfacing project will be rehabilitating the bridge situated over Paint Creek between Old U.S. 50 and Cave Road, other minor bridge repairs, and ADA ramp installation and sidewalk construction in Rainsboro.

While traffic will be reduced to one lane and maintained by flaggers through most of the construction zone, traffic will be maintained in one, 10-foot lane with temporary signals at the bridge over Paint Creek. ODOT reminds motorists of the need for additional caution when traveling through these and other work zones.

The Shelly Company was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $1.59 million to pave U.S. 50, and all work is anticipated to be completed in mid-summer.
