Leesburg Fest coming in June

Leesburg’s annual festival is coming up in June and there are a couple changes to this year’s event, according to organizers.

One change is the name, which according to festival director and Leesburg Lions Club member Wendy Holliday has been changed to the Leesburg Candle-lite Fest, since Candle-lite has become a partner in the annual event.

Another change, Holliday announced in an email, is the creation of a website devoted to the festival. The site offers access to changes, updates, information, and forms for vendors and sponsors. The vendor applications and sponsorship forms must be returned by May 15.

According to the festival’s website, the schedule so far is: Thursday, June 16 – 6 p.m. opening ceremony, 6 to 9 p.m. vendors open, 7 p.m. opening parade, 10 p.m. festival closes; Friday, June 17 – noon to 9 p.m. vendors open, live entertainment from 3-6 p.m. and 7-10 p.m., 10 p.m. festival closes; Saturday, June 18 – vendors open noon to 9 p.m., 1-3 p.m. scavenger hunt, Red Idle Rejects 3-6 p.m., Mr. Chris and the Cruisers with special guest Kalysta Minton from “America’s Got Talent” 7-10 p.m., festival closes 10 p.m.

More local entertainment is being sought for the festival, Holliday said.

The festival will be held rain or shine, and security will be provided by the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, according to the website. The site also states that festival T-shirts will be available for sale with proceeds benefiting Kamp Dovetail and the ASPCA.

Questions can be addressed via the website on its home page. Check back on the website at leesburgcandle-litefest.com as information and the schedule will be updated as the festival draws nearer.
