Golfers will have a chance to win $10,000 during Samaritan Outreach Services’ golf outing Saturday, Aug. 23. The nonprofit organization will hold its second Drive Against Hunger Golf Scramble at the Valley Vista Golf Course in Bainbridge, and any participant who makes a hole-in-one at hole No. 14 will win $10,000.

Samaritan Outreach has teamed with insurance company Hole-In-One International to offer the $10,000 hole-in-one prize.

“We’re asking the community to make sure all the golfers in their lives know about this great event. Money raised from the Drive Against Hunger helps to put food on the tables of Highland County families in need,” said Wade Hamilton, executive director of Samaritan Outreach.

The cost is $200 for a team of four or $50 for an individual to register, and breakfast and lunch are included. Everyone registered will receive a free club. There will be skill prizes and a 50/50 raffle. Register in person at

Samaritan’s office at 537 N. East St. in Hillsboro, by phone at 937-393-2220 or online at www.ourpantry.org.

Samaritan Outreach, formed in 1989 by the Rev. John and Jean Carson, operates as a charity food pantry in the Highland County area, funded primarily by community grants and private donations. Eligibility for services falls within the guidelines of federal income levels.
