Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports that for the week of Sept. 14-20, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 390 911 calls, answered 141 requests for service, dispatched 135 fire and EMS runs, took 32 offense reports and investigated four traffic crashes.

At 5:54 a.m. on Sept. 15 the sheriff’s office received a call from a female on Barrett Mill Road reporting her ex-husband was there making threats and causing a disturbance. The suspect had left the scene by the time deputies arrived to investigate, but he was located a short time later at a business in Rainsboro. Johnny Snyder, 61, of Bainbridge, was placed under arrest for one count of aggravated menacing.

A citizen driving on Harriett Road at 3:40 a.m. on Sept. 16 called the sheriff’s office after encountering a cow running loose on the roadway. A deputy dispatched to the area located the animal’s owner, who was able to corral the wandering bovine.

A deputy was dispatched to Hereford Road in Clay Township to investigate a theft complaint on Sept. 17 at 5:06 p.m. According to the owner, two all-terrain vehicles had been stolen from his property. An offense report was taken.

A Quarry Road resident called the sheriff’s office at 1:04 p.m. on Sept. 19 to report a burglary that occurred overnight. Several items were found missing from the home including a firearm. A deputy took an offense report.

The sheriff’s office received several 911 calls at 5:23 p.m. on Sept.19 reporting a domestic disturbance at a Keplinger Road residence. Deputies responded to find several individuals had been involved in a physical altercation and three were arrested for domestic violence. Katelyn Hoskins, 18, Marte Craig, 18, and Gary Cruea, 63, were all transported to the Highland County Justice Center.

ACCIDENTS

On Friday, Sept. 18 at 2:49 p.m., the police department responded to a motor vehicle crash on South High Street. Kathy S. Miller, 48, of Hillsboro, was setting stationary on South High Street when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by Kristen Hamilton, 38, of Hillsboro. Hamilton left the scene without stopping and was later found and arrested for OVI. Hamilton was also cited for assured clear distance ahead and open flask.

On Saturday, Sept. 19 at 12:51 p.m., the police department responded to a motor vehicle crash on Belfast Pike near South East Street. Nicholas P. Jones, 48, of Hillsboro, was stopped at the traffic light on Belfast Pike when Jones’ vehicle was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven Christian D, Cundiff, 22, of Hillsboro, causing damage to Jones’ vehicle.

On Sunday, Sept. 20 at 12:11 p.m., the police department responded to a motor vehicle crash in the parking lot of a local business on the 1400 block of North High Street. Alexander Humphrey, 22, of Hillsboro, was driving through the lot as Timothy Chambers, 36, of Hillsboro, was pulling from a parking spot. Humphrey struck Chambers’ vehicle in the driver’s side door.

On Sunday, Sept. 20 at 12:41 p.m., the police department responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of South High Street and West South Street. Jesse C. Hass, 26, of Hillsboro. was traveling north on South High Street and slowed to make a left hand turn onto West South Street. Hass was in the center turn lane waiting on traffic. Chad Michael Perkins, 25, of Hillsboro, was traveling in the same direction as Hass. Perkins decided to make a left turn onto West South Street and did not see Hass in the center lane. Perkins was cited for turn signals required.

INCIDENT

On Sunday, Sept. 20 at approximately 12:17 p.m., the police department received a call from a local business at the 500 block of Harry Sauner Road to assist the loss prevention manager. Upon officers investigation, Edward S. Phillips, 36, of Galloway, was charged with Theft.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Dustin Willoughby, 29, of Hillsboro, was cited for driving under suspension.

Stephan Weil, 29, of Vancleave, Miss., was cited for failure to file for registration and driving under suspension.

Anna Reffitt, 26, of Hillsboro, was cited for driving under suspension and was arrested for failure to appear.

Casey K. Burns, 25, of Hillsboro, was arrested for failure to appear.

Christian D. Cundiff, 22, of Hillsboro, was cited for assured clear distance ahead.

John G. Lusby, 35, of Hillsboro, was cited for speed.

Kristin E. Hamilton, 38, of Hillsboro, was arrested for OVI, driving under suspension, and open flask.

Randy Hibbs, 54, of Lucasville, was cited for speed.

Tammy Hahn, 46, of Seaman, was cited for speed.

Janelle Shannon, 38, of Winchester, was cited for failure to display plates.

Travis Jones, 31, of Hillsboro, was cited for driving under suspension.

Brad Hall, 35, was cited for insufficient taillights.

Dena L. Andrews, 35, of Hillsboro, was arrested for failure to appear and failure to comply.

Jeremy Lamb, 30, of Hillsboro, citation reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

Seventeen-year-old Leesburg juvenile, citation assured cleared distance.

Spencer Boone, 18, of Hillsboro, citation assured cleared distance.
