The Times-Gazette’s annual Salt Homemakers Show will be held Friday, April 25, in the auditorium of Southern State Community College.
Three pairs of celebrity chefs, halls filled with local vendors, and hundreds of ticket holders will descend once again on the local college for the 26th edition of the show.
Like last year, the doors will open at 4 p.m. and feature around 40 vendors, all giving away food, gifts or prizes throughout the evening. At 6 p.m., ticket holders will file into the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium for prize drawings and special cooking demonstrations by the event’s celebrity chefs. Nearly 100 total gifts or prizes were awarded during the evening last year.
This year’s lineup of celebrity chefs will be announced soon, said Sharon Hughes, advertising executive for The Times-Gazette and the organizer of the show.
The event, which last year sold out within two weeks of tickets becoming available, doubles as a food drive for the Highland County Homeless Shelter. One door prize ticket will be given for those bringing five cans of food. Three door prize tickets will be given to anyone bringing 10 cans.
“This is always one of the most entertaining and fun-filled events of the year,” said Hughes. “We’re looking forward to another Homemakers Show that will be the biggest and best one yet.”
