Tickets are going fast for the 2014 Salt Homemakers Show sponsored by The Times-Gazette and Salt magazine.

The show is scheduled for Friday, April 25 at Southern State Community College in Hillsboro.

Sharon Hughes, sales manager for The Times-Gazette and organizer of the show, said the 600 tickets available for the annual program are rapidly dwindling.

“This is always one of the most fun and popular events of the year,” said Hughes. “People are excited to see what’s in store this year. There are always surprises, and lots of gifts and prizes.”

The Times-Gazette is giving away 10 tickets to this year’s show through a fun Facebook promotion. To participate, go to www.facebook.com/thetimesgazette, find the item called “Win tickets to 2014 Homemakers Show,” and then comment and share the Salt Homemakers Show graphic.

Those who do so will be entered into a drawing for tickets. Two tickets will be given away each Wednesday until the show.

As always, attendees will learn some new recipes from a variety of celebrity chefs.

Hillsboro veterinarians Dr. Rob Sharp and Dr. Reid Sharp will once again be featured at the event, joined again by Lora Abernathy and Andrea Chaffin, editor and food editor of Salt Magazine.

Teaming up to round out this year’s program will be Highland County Prosecutor Anneka Collins and Highland County Commissioner Shane Wilkin.

Tickets are priced at $7 each and can be obtained at the newspaper office at 108 Gov. Trimble Place in Hillsboro. Hughes and Leslie Ramsey of WVNU will once again emcee the event.

Vendors wishing to participate with booths or tables can still reserve remaining spots by calling 937-393-3456.

Doors will open at 4 p.m., and the event usually features around 40 vendors, all giving away food, gifts or prizes throughout the evening.

At 6 p.m., ticket holders will file into the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium for prize drawings and special cooking demonstrations by the evening’s celebrity chefs. Nearly 100 total gifts or door prizes were awarded during the evening last year.

The event doubles as a food drive for the Highland County Homeless Shelter. One door prize ticket will be given for those bringing five cans of food. Three door prize tickets will be given to anyone bringing 10 cans.
