The McClain Performing Arts Boosters will present the annual McClain Show Choir “Spectacular” on Saturday, April 26.
The production has been a long-standing tradition of the performing arts program at McClain. The theme of this year’s show is “Dreams.”
The production is very similar to “Opening Night,” which is presented at the beginning of each school year. It features songs, dances, and a running script which ties all the acts together.
Some featured songs and dances in this year’s show include “Disturbia,” “All of You,” “Say Something,” “Survivor,” “Fame,” “Broadway Boogie,” and “I Believe I Can Fly.”
Current show choir members, consisting of 24 juniors and seniors, will be featured in the show.The show features members of the current show choir. This group consists of 24 juniors and seniors who auditioned to become part of this choral group.
Proceeds from the show will help the group to continue to represent McClain beyond the community of Greenfield. The show choir members have traveled to New York City where they marched and performed in the Macy’s Day Parade, and at the United Nations. In addition, the group has performed at the Mall of America, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Disney World. The show choir also performs for community organizations and events.
Next spring, the choral group will return to Disney World where members will perform their own show in one of the parks.
“Spectacular” will be the last major production of the 2013-2014 school year. However, other vocal events, which are scheduled for the remainder of the year, include the high school spring concert which is set for Thursday, May 1.
In addition, the junior high choir concert will take place on Monday, May 12, followed by “Curtain Call,” the awards show for the high school choral and drama departments. This event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14.
All events begin at 7:30 p.m. There is no admission charge for the concerts or “Curtain Call.” Admission for “Spectacular” is $5 and tickets may be purchased at the door.
