Hillsboro Police Department reports

The Hillsboro Police Department has released the following information:

STATISTICS

For the period from Friday, Dec. 16 to Sunday, Dec. 18, the department received 183 calls including four 911 transfers, investigated 10 accidents, and made eight arrests.

Dec. 16

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Joshua Lee Arnold, 27, of Hillsboro, was arrested on a failure to appear bench warrant.

John Michael Merrick, 47, of Hillsboro, was arrested on a failure to appear bench warrant.

Michael E. Reeder, 35, of Wilmington, was arrested for attempted unlawful purchase of pseudoephedrine product.

Elisha Bradford, 32, of Hillsboro, was cited for driving under suspension.

Madison Hatfield, 18, of Greenfield, was cited for assured clear distance ahead.

Dec. 17

ACCIDENTS

The police department responded to multiple accidents and calls for assistance due to the inclement weather.

Airic Steagall, 25, of Hillsboro, was westbound on East Main Street and attempted to make a left turn onto Key Street. Due to the icy condition of the roadway, his vehicle slid into an electric pole. Functional damage was reported to the 2015 Chevrolet he was operating. No injuries were reported.

Tori Bradley, of Wilmington, was sitting in her vehicle on North West Street after she had slid into the ditch on the icy roadway when a southbound vehicle, operated by Makayla Vice, 22, of Hillsboro, lost traction on the road and struck Bradley’s vehicle in the rear. Minor damage was reported to Bradley’s 1995 Chevrolet, while Vice’s 2013 Ford received functional damage. No injuries were reported.

Ryan Burns, 30, of Hillsboro, was attempting to pull from a parking space on icy pavement when his truck slid down the hill and struck the side of the Ponderosa restaurant located at 545 S. High St., Hillsboro. Both the truck and the building were damaged in the incident. No injuries were reported.

Jerry Stroup, 48, of Hillsboro, was northbound on North East Street in the 400 block and attempted to turn left into an apartment complex when he lost control of his vehicle on the icy pavement, running off the right side of the road and striking a fence at 410 N. East St. Functional damage was reported to Stroup’s 2000 Buick. No injuries were reported.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Rodney Cosby Jr., 26, of Hillsboro, was arrested on a failure to appear bench warrant issued by Hillsboro Municipal Court.

Dec. 18

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Christopher Wills was arrested for criminal trespassing and criminal damaging. He was scheduled to appear for arraignment in Hillsboro Municipal Court on Monday, Dec. 19.
