Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Feb. 27 to March 5 the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 271 911 calls, answered 148 requests for service, dispatched 146 fire and EMS runs, took 33 offense reports and investigated four traffic crashes.

A Rocky Fork Lake resident came to the Highland County Justice Center at 4:18 p.m. on Feb. 27 to report a theft. An extension ladder, a charcoal grill and several other items were taken. A deputy interviewed the victim and a witness and an offense report was completed.

Deputies were dispatched to the 8000 block of SR 124 at 10:01 p.m. on Feb. 28 after receiving a report of a prowler with a flashlight outside a residence. The homeowner described the suspect as a male with a goatee, wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt. Anyone witnessing suspicious activity is urged to call the Highland County Sheriff’s Office at 937-393-1421 or dial 911.

At 1:08 a.m. on March 1 a Holiday Way resident called 911 to report a domestic disturbance. The female victim was allegedly assaulted and threatened by an ex- boyfriend. Deputies arrived and a report was taken. Thomas A. Ryan, 46, was arrested and charged with one count of domestic violence.

On March 2 at 9:36 p.m. a motorist called the sheriff’s office to report two suspicious vehicles parked along the roadway on SR 247 near Post Lane. The caller advised it appeared the occupants were engaged in some manner of criminal activity. A deputy checked the area, but both vehicles had already left the scene.

A Brown County man was arrested at 2:12 a.m. on March 5 following a traffic stop in Dodson Township. A deputy recovered illegal narcotics from a vehicle driven by Travis D. Gilreath, of Georgetown. Gilreath was also charged with OVI and transported to the Highland County Justice Center.
