The Hillsboro Police Department has released the following information:

June 11

INCIDENT

At 8:52 p.m., the police department responded to a business in the 500 block of Harry Sauner Road for a report of two suspects detained for theft. Upon arrival, the manager of the business had a male and female detained in the office for concealing clothing items and trying to exit the store. The suspects were identified as Brandy Jo Tubbs, 23, of Greenfield, and Christian M. Roberts, 26, of Greenfield. Both were arrested and charged with theft.

June 12

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Erin A Cluxton, 31, of Hillsboro, was arrested for unlawful purchase of pseudoephedrine.

ACCIDENT

Katheryn Benson, 18, of Hillsboro, was traveling southbound on North High Street, driving a 2002 Ford Mustang, and failed to stop at the intersection when the traffic control device illuminated a red signal. Benson proceeded through the red light and struck Dustin Catron, 26, of Hillsboro, driving a 1994 Lincoln. Catron’s vehicle was already in the intersection and continued to make a left turn when he was struck. Moderate damage was reported on theBenson vehicle and minor damage was reported on the Catron vehicle. No injuries were reported. Benson was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.

June 14

INCIDENT

At 8:32 a.m., officers with the police department responded to the 700 block of North West Street in an attempt to pick up a male subject that was wanted by the juvenile court. At the time of arrest, officers were able to recover illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. The male subject was transported to the Highland County Juvenile Court and turned over to the probation department.

At 3:327 p.m., a female reported that her purse was left in a shopping cart in the 500 block of Harry Sauner Rd and needed a report. Officers were able to review surveillance footage. Through investigation the purse was located with all items still in the purse.

ACCIDENT

Danielle Campbell, 21, of Hillsboro, was traveling southbound on North Elm Street approaching traffic that was stopped in the intersection. Ashton Bone, 23, of Fayetteville, was stopped at the red light. Campbell failed to stop with an assured clear distance and struck the rear of Bone’s 2008 Honda causing minor damage. Minor damage was reported to Campbell’s 2004 Chevrolet Blazer. No injuries were reported. Campbell was cited for assured clear distance ahead.

June 14

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

John D. Milar, 35, of Bainbridge, was arrested for unlawful purchase of pseudoephedrine.

Christopher S. Fogarty, 28, of Hillsboro, was arrested on a bench warrant.

ACCIDENT

At 1:22 p.m., the Hillsboro police department responded to the area of North East Street and East Main Street for a report of a subject on a bicycle crashing into a car. Upon arrival, Jerry Caplinger, 70, of Hillsboro, was making a right turn on to North East Street while a male juvenile from Hillsboro was on a bicycle on the sidewalk. The juvenile went into the grass and hit a hole, causing him to lose control of the bicycle that had no brakes and then slide in to the back door of Caplinger’s vehicle. The juvenile was transported to Highland District Hospital by squad and minor damage was done to the vehicle.

June 15

ACCIDENT

At 9:48 a.m., the police department responded to the 600 block of South High Street for a report of a two-car crash. Upon arrival, Rachel Ross, 19, of Hillsboro, was traveling southbound on South High Street and Brandon Crone, 20, of Hillsboro, was also traveling southbound on South High Street ahead of the Ross vehicle. Crone stopped his vehicle and was waiting to make a left turn onto private property while Ross applied her brakes, but was unable to stop in time, causing a rear-end type of collision. No injuries were reported on the scene. Ross was cited for assured clear distance ahead.
