Highland County Sheriff’s Office reports

Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of July 24-30 the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 311 911 calls, answered 148 requests for service, dispatched 144 fire and EMS runs, took 40 offense reports and investigated five traffic crashes.

On July 24 at 11:17 p.m. an East Prospect Road resident called the sheriff’s office to report an intoxicated female family member causing problems. A deputy was dispatched to the scene and arrested Karissa M. Cowdrey, 23, on an outstanding warrant from Hillsboro Municipal Court. During the arrest Cowdrey became combative and was also charged with resisting arrest.

At 9:59 a.m. on July 27 a deputy was dispatched to the 8000 block of SR 73 after receiving a report of a utility trailer stolen sometime overnight. An offense report was taken.

A Beaver Road resident called the sheriff’s office at 3:57 p.m. on July 28 after discovering her home had been broken into. A large amount of cash, several guns, jewelry and two table computers were among the items taken in the burglary. Detectives are currently following all leads, but anyone with information about this or any other crime is urged to call the sheriff’s office at 937-393-1421 or the Crime Tip Line at 937-840-6243.

On July 29 at 4:05 p.m. a citizen came to the Highland County Justice Center to report a domestic assault that occurred in the Rocky Fork Lake area. A deputy spoke to the victim and an offense report was taken. A criminal complaint for domestic violence was filed and the suspect, Phillip W. Minteer, was later arrested at his home on Fern Lane.
