Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of July 31 to Aug. 6, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 321 911 calls, answered 137 requests for service, dispatched 136 fire and EMS runs, took 26 offense reports and investigated one traffic crash.

A deputy was dispatched to the 5000 block of Grande Road at 1:22 a.m. on July 31 to investigate a residential burglar alarm. The premises were checked and everything was found to be secure. Several canines inside the home likely triggered the false alarm.

A Union Township resident called the sheriff’s office at 2:25 p.m. on August 5 to report being assaulted by his girlfriend. Deputies responded to the scene and interviewed both parties. Christina E. Gill, 46, was arrested on one count of domestic violence.

A 911 caller reported being assaulted by her husband at their Highrock Road residence following an argument at 3:31 a.m. on Aug. 6. Deputies were dispatched to the scene where Travis J. Hayslip, 35, was arrested on one count of misdemeanor domestic violence.

Deputies were dispatched to a Candy Cane Lane residence at 6:05 p.m. on August 6 to investigate a domestic violence complaint. A male called the sheriff’s office to report being assaulted by his girlfriend following an argument over some personal property. Tammy S. Ball, of Hillsboro, was arrested on one count of domestic violence.
