Highland County Sheriff’s Office reports

Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Sept. 18-24 the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 269 911 calls, answered 160 requests for service, dispatched 136 fire and EMS runs, took 38 offense reports and investigated two traffic crashes.

On Sept. 18 at 12:40 p.m. a citizen called the sheriff’s office to report the theft of a Harley Davidson motorcycle. A deputy was dispatched to the 4000 block of U.S. Route 50 in Union Township to investigate. The victim was interviewed and an offense report was taken. An arrest warrant was filed on the suspect for one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

At 10:08 a.m. on Sept. 21 a Sharpsville Road resident called the sheriff’s office to report his garage had been broken into and several items were damaged. A deputy responded to the scene where a report was taken.

A deputy was dispatched to a Pied Piper Parkway residence at 3:06 p.m. on Sept. 22 following a report of a theft of a cell phone. The victim was interviewed and an offense report was taken. A person of interest is currently being sought for questioning in this matter.

The sheriff’s office received a 911 call at 12:16 a.m. on Sept. 23 reporting a domestic disturbance on South Broadway Street in Lynchburg. Deputies responded to the call and arrested Jeffery S. Elkins, 32, of Hillsboro, for one count of domestic violence and one count of domestic menacing.
