Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Nov. 13-19, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 263 911 calls, answered 145 requests for service, dispatched 126 fire and EMS runs, took 19 offense reports and investigated four traffic crashes.

The sheriff’s office received a call at 5:03 a.m. on Nov. 14 from a citizen in the 10000 block of SR 73 reporting a prowler at a vacant residence in the area. A deputy responded to the location and found an open door. The structure was cleared and the door was secured. Nothing else out of the ordinary was located.

On Nov. 16 at 7:50 a.m. an employee of a Belfast business called the sheriff’s office to report a break-in. Sometime overnight unknown subjects entered the store and removed cash from an ATM machine. Deputies were dispatched to the scene where an offense report was taken and evidence collected.

At 7:42 a.m. on Nov. 17 the sheriff’s office received a call from Hillsboro City Schools concerning a possible domestic dispute involving one of their students. A deputy spoke to the student and parents involved in the incident. An offense report was taken.

A deputy was dispatched to a residence on Beechwood Lane at Rocky Fork Lake at 2:01 p.m. on Nov. 18 to investigate an attempted burglary. The victim called the sheriff’s office after returning home and finding someone had broken the door. A report was taken.
