Grief Share starts Sept. 14

The next session of the Highland County Grief Share program will begin Monday, Sept. 14. Each session will begin at 6 p.m. at the Yellow Rose Bed and Breakfast, 305 S. Washington St.. Greenfield.Grief Share is a friendly, caring group of people who walk alongside of you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. Grief Share seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable Grief Share resources to help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life. The sessions will be led by John and Brenda Losey. Hillsboro signs will be discussed

The Hillsboro Property Maintenance and Restoration Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14 at Hillsboro Municipal Court, 130 Homestead Dr., Hillsboro, to discuss an amendment to the sign ordinance and a request from Southern State Community College for a sign variance. The meeting is open to the public.

Lynchburg-Clay board meeting

The Lynchburg-Clay Board of Education will meet in regular session at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17 at Lynchburg-Clay High School.

Penn Township School Reunion

The 62nd Penn Township School Reunion (Samantha) will be held Sunday, Sept. 20 at the Samantha Friends Church, corner of U.S. Route 62 and Fall Creek Road. A carry-in dinner will be held at 1 p.m. Anyone who attended Penn School is welcome.

Fall Festival of Leaves Scholarship Pageant applications

Applications for the Fall Festival of Leaves Scholarship Pageant are available at the McFadden Pharmacy in Bainbridge, Out West Hair Designs in Bourneville and She Said Yes in Chillicothe. Contestants, ages 15-18 by Sept. 21, 2015, must attend or be a graduate of Adena, Chillicothe, McClain, Hillsboro, Huntington, Paint Valley, Southeastern, Unioto, Western Latham or Zane Trace high schools. The first 25 applications will be accepted. There is a $10 application fee. The pageant will be held Oct. 15 at the Paxton Theatre in Bainbridge.

Community Wide Yard Sale

Reconstruction project

Residents on or near North East Street in Hillsboro, as well as the traveling public, is being informed that the city has contracted with Stauffer Site Services, LLC to implement a reconstruction project on North East Street, from Main Street to East North Street. The contractor plans to begin construction mid September. Final completion for the project is set for Oct. 15, 2015. Middle school selling Indian Cards

The Hillsboro Middle School eighth grade class will be selling Indian Discount Cards through Sept. 25 to help finance the class trip to Washington, D.C. The cards sell for $10 and can be purchased from any eighth grade student or at the HMS office during school hours. For information call (937) 393-9877.

Holiday Trails Association meeting

The annual meeting of the Holiday Trails Association will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 at the shelter house. Alzheimer’s/Dementia Lunch & Learn For Families

A free Alzheimer’s/Dementia Lunch & Learn For Families will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 22 and Dec. 15 at The Laurels of Hillsboro. These programs will provide an opportunity for families and caregivers to learn and ask questions about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, while receiving support from others in similar situations. OVRDC meeting, picnic

The Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission (OVRDC) Full Commission Meeting & Picnic will be held Friday, Sept. 25 in Ross County at the Adena Mansion & Gardens, 847 Adena Rd., Chillicothe. Registration will be held at 10:30 a.m., the meeting at 11 a.m. and lunch at noon. The keynote speaker will be David Goodman, director of the Ohio Development Services Agency.

The OVRDC Full Commission members have received registration information. Anyone planning to attend must RSVP by Monday, Sept. 21. ‘Christmas Carol’ auditions

The Paxton Theatre will hold auditions for its production of Tom Mula’s Jacob Marley’s “Christmas Carol” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 The Paxton Theatre, 133 E. Main St., Bainbridge. Auditioners should prepare and memorize a dramatic, one-minute monologue. Those interested on working in available crew positions will be asked to complete an interview during auditions. “Christmas Carol” will be performed Dec. 4 and 5. Deer Hunters Banquet

The Highland County Deer Hunters Banquet will be held Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Wharton Building on the Highland County Fairgrounds. Games, a raffle and social hour begin at 5 p.m. with a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. The group’s purpose is to raise funds in support for education, habitat preservation, and preservation of the hunting tradition for the benefit of whitetail deer and other wildlife.
